Batna was built in 1844 by the French. At the beginning, it was a military camp which controls all the roads to the Sahara.
Timgad : 
Timgad was built as a bastion against the Aures'Berbers by the Emperor Trajan.
The city was built in stores, taverns, forum and large theatre.
Even if the Arabs and the Berber ones destroyed Timgad partly, it remains nevertheless in good condition.
The theatre was used for a long time to receive the Festival of the Mediterranean countries.
Death of the Algerian singer Abdelhamid Ababsa
The famous Algerian author-type-setter and singer Abdelhamid Ababsa died at the age of 80.
Born in Barika, in the area of Batna (Aures). He started working very young like an apprentice typographer, before learning the music. He composed many patriotic songs and was imprisoned during two years in France for having denounced the massacres of Setif, in a song . His most know and most appreciated, " Hyzia ", a long love song. The two daughters of Abdelhamid Ababsa followed the same path and are musicians known in Algeria
