The Town of BISKRA originates in Carthaginois. Biskra was called VECERA by the Romans.
To the 10°century it is conquered by Kalaa de Beni Hammad then by Arabic Hillaliens and by Almohades of the kingdom of Marrakech to the 12°century after J.C.
In the 14°century, Biskra was going to depend sometimes on Hafssides of Tunisia, and Mirinides de Fes. At this same time, Biskra is conquered by the Turks.
In 1849 Biskra is occupied by the duke of Aumale. On this date the insurrection of Ziban finishes on the catch and the destruction of Zaatchas.
The city is built in the plain. In North
are detached the nodes from Aurès. The palm plantations which surround Biskra
make the economic richness of this area. Indeed, it is there that push the dates
" Deglet Nour " known universally. It is an Oasis
of 150.000 palm trees (13.000 hectares) which produce above mentioned dates

Biskra is the capital of the oases of Ziban.

In Biskra there is also a famous hydropathic establishment " Hammam Salihine ". Its characteristic is to have a sodic chlorinated sulfurous water. The patients come for the rheumatic, dermatological affections and the disorders of the tracts respiratory.
While coming from Biskra, we cross kilometers of palm plantations before discovering Bou Saada.
Bou Saada (oasis of happiness) is offered to the glances, flooded light. Dunes and mountains are combined with the palm plantation to give a magic charm to the small city.

The folklore of Ouled Naïl (area of Bou Saâda). The costumes are rich and the dances are accompanied by cord, wind instruments and percussion.
