Kabylie is a very beautiful
mountainous area. The villages are hung proudly on its mountains.

Tizi-Ouzou
in Kabyle means " collar of the brooms "; but it is with these flowers of mountains
which cover these slopes that the city owes its name. Tizi-Ouzou is located
halfway between the Mediterranean and the high nodes of Djurdjura. The places
of interest as many as are varied, according to the seasons :
- For sportsmen (the
ski, alpinism, hunting, speleology, excursions, etc),
- For stays of rest in
their hotels, Tala Guilef and Tikjda are the best corners of the country.
Tala Guilef is an alpinism, ski resort and rest to 1500 m of altitude, of
a forest of cedars and oaks of 700 hectares slopes.

On the Collar
of Tirourda (limit of the Valley of Soummam), guides will lead the good walkers
towards two famous places in the area:
- The Cave of the Stiff,
at the bottom of which list a mysterious mummy;
- and the Cemetery of
the Monkeys cavity where are many skeletons of these animals.
The craft industry is very
developed:
Thus the utility pottery
is the principal artisanal production of l'Arbaâ Nath Irathen.
- Icheridene are known
for the abundance and the quality of their cherries, from where the Festival
of Cherries.
- Ath Hichem village close
to Ain El Hammam (1089 m) specialized in the weaving of short-pile carpet,
backhanders, etc... decorated reasons with the colors sharp.
- In Ath Yenni (800 to
900 m), the tablecloths and napkins are cut in fabric with red, black and
yellow lines, being used for the clothes industry of the foutas (skirts of
the women).
- Traditionally, Ath Yenni
are goldsmiths whose silver jewels encrusted with coral and enamels are appreciated
well beyond Kabylie. The artisants of today train cabinetmakers and sculptors
who should not disavow the reasons and the forms traditional.
- Whereas Meklaâ and Djemâ
N Saridj are devoted entirely to the craft industry: foutas, potteries out
of red ground, basket making in raffia or reed, sculpture on wood panels,
ceramics and wrought iron...
